Homework

Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.

I give homework Monday-Thursday. I do not assign homework over the weekend as a sign of respect for family time. I know families are very busy and need time to be together without the struggles of homework.

Here is the weekly homework pattern:

  • Read 15-30 minutes each night
  • Record reading minutes on Homework Calendar + parent initials
  • Spelling Words- study the words each night + Dictation Sentences
  • Math page: Homework & Remembering
  • Entry Task - to be completed at home if student did not finish in class
Rewards:
The rewards are plentiful. Besides learning to be self-sufficient, responsible, organized and reliable, students increase the value of their daily lessons by practicing the skills at home. And if that's not motivation enough... there's more rewards...
  • Daily | Morning Recess
  • Monthly | Prize Box Visit

Entry Tasks: Common Core Skills Review
Spelling: Please study the words and dictation sentences on Thursday nights with your child to prepare for the test and to teach your child the value of studying for a test. We have tests each Friday - or the last day of the week. I will not assign spelling on 2-3 day weeks.
