St. Patrick's Day Palooza

We celebrated St. Patrick's Day with Leprechaun Traps, Leprechaun Math, and writing about How to Make a Leprechaun Trap! It was a great day after we cleaned up our classroom. Those tricky leprechauns trashed our room!

During math, we graphed Lucky Charms!

Let the counting and sorting begin.

Now, I need to make a graph from scratch.

A finished product. Now let's eat!

Rock Hound Mrs. Rengler

Mrs. Rengler and her family have spent 30 years as Rock Hounds. She claims this is a fabulous family hobby and highly recommends this hobby to you and your family.

She taught us about "tumbling" rocks in rock tumblers which polishes and shines the rocks.

Mrs. Rengler gave each of us a baggie full of polished rocks of our choice.

Mrs. Rengler showed us the jewelry her husband made with polished rocks.

We really enjoyed our time with this Rock Hound who taught us we were Pebble Puppies because we were new to rock studies. A big thanks to Mrs. Rosengren for setting up our visit with Mrs. Rengler.

And the Survey Says...

In math, we have been learning how to take surveys, use tally marks, make tables, read and make pictographs or bar graphs. Then, we learned how to analyze the results we found and make comparison statements or answer comparison questions.

During the 3rd and 4th grade lunch, we went in and asked them what was their favorite pet: dog, kitten, panda, tiger. Dogs won!

We also took class surveys and then worked with partners to make tables.

Here are the finished products.
