Chinese New Year

We were on February Break when Chinese New Year started, so we had to wait until Monday to celebrate.

Each student was given a red envelop and they were able to choose a pencil, a notebook, chopsticks and an eraser to put inside their red envelope.

We also got to taste some yummy treats.

We ate rice with chopsticks.

One of us even had a beautiful dress to wear for the occasion.
Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Winter Book Fair

We are so lucky to have Book Fairs at our school.

Just look at this magical place under the sea.

Mrs. King is the "captain" of the Sea of Emerald Park. We owe her a big "wave" of gratitude.

Look at all of these books we got for our classroom library!

I even bought a book for my upcoming grandbaby boy!

I can't wait to read all of these treasures from the sea.

If I Were Stuck in a Snow Globe!

We did some art today based on this book by Jane O'Connor.

First, I took their pictures in a pose that they would use if they were stuck in a snow globe.

Then I downloaded the pictures from school to be printed at the store (Rite Aid) for pick-up service which cost 15 cents a print.

Next, students traced a plastic plate (I bought from Party City) onto a piece of white paper. Then they cut the white circle out and tore it in two. Next they glued the white paper writing form "If I were stuck in a snow globe..." onto the blue paper and traced the clear plate to keep the alignment right. After that, they cut themselves out of the picture and glued themselves down on blue paper.

Finally, they went to see Mr. Domingo to have him help them hot glue their paper plate down onto the blue paper, after pouring some Epsom salt (I bought at Safeway) and glitter onto their paper to act as snow. Voila! Ready to hang after it dried.

What would YOU do if you were stuck in a snow globe?

Valentine's Day Party

What a day of creativity and love we had on Friday.

Here we are making our Valentine's Day bags.

We used napkins, doilies, cupcake liners, paper, and of course our most precious tools - our creativity and imagination.

Thank you for all of my teacher gifts.

Our finished products.

Mrs. and Mr. Neely really treated our class to some amazing goodies which they hand made with lots of love.

Here is Mr. Neely teaching us how to make the Juice Box Robot!

Our snack table.

Mr. and Mrs. Neely brought us a craft to make to wear on our heads.

Mr. and Mrs Neely brought the props. The students added the silly!

Passing out our Valentine's Day cards.

They truly defy words, don't you think?

Thank you so much for all the love.
